English Reading
Reading is a great way to improve your English and to learn a lot about the world without leaving home. In this class we read a lot of interesting stories and discuss them with each other. One thing that students really like about this class is being able to choose different books to read and then talk about them together. It is a good way to share knowledge and to help each other learn. Students also enjoy doing active learning activities, including learning games and group work which help improve their English skills and understanding of the world and its people.

Instructional Design
The knowledge from neuroscience and educational research that all people learn differently poses an important question to educators: How can we achieve the best possible learning outcomes for all learners? Designing and implementing instruction that removes learning barriers and addresses learner diversity is an important first step. I am currently researching the effectiveness of different approaches to instructional design for language learning. In particular, I am exploring how Universal Design for Learning, might be used to create effective and accessible learning environments for all English language learners.

When it comes to learning anything including a language, as we all have different motivations and goals, we need to choose our own path. There is only so much we can learn in a classroom, so if we really want to achieve our goals we need to be independent and ready to learn anywhere, anytime. Do what you enjoy, find what works best for you, and you’ll have a great chance of reaching your goals.
Like many Australians, I have had a desire to explore the world from a very young age. I first left Australia when I was 18 years old when I moved to London, England and spent time traveling around Europe. Since that time, I have visited and worked in many countries. I believe that approaching such opportunities with an open mind and a desire to learn can teach you a lot about the world and your place in it.
